Biography

Dr. Adán Alejándro Fernández is Director of Music and Liturgy and Organist at Holy Family Catholic Church in Glendale, California, and University Organist at California Lutheran University. He plays harpsichord with the early music consort Hortus Musicus, teaches music theory at the Colburn School, and founded and led the Glendale Youth Symphony for seven years. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in sacred music from the University of Southern California.

Latin American sacred music

Bringing the music of the Americas to the cathedral.

Adán conducts and programs sacred music from across Latin America, from colonial-era villancicos to living composers, alongside the European repertoire. He has lectured on it in Colombia, London, and Canada, publishes on it with GIA and the Hymn Society, and edits Puentes for the Center for Congregational Song.
